Office of Civil Rights Settles Their Fourth Data Breach

The Office for Civil Rights just settled their fourth breach this year. In 2016, Athens Orthopedic Clinic failed to follow the regulations and security measures established by the #HIPAA which led to a ransomware attack and a breach of patients’ health records. The #OCR recently reached its settlement with the clinic for $1.5 million and is requiring them to keep up with their policies and procedures in order to eliminate risks like this in the future. Not only has Athens Orthopedic suffered great costs, but they also lost the trust of many patients.
